Outside 02/09/2026

Outside, the landscape 
is bereft of water
like a beached whale
in the Amazon Jungle
for no specific reason.

Perhaps it was a suicide 
having lost her husband
and two calves. Everything
is obscured by a gauze of clouds
like the ones my dentist
press on my gums
to stop the bleeding.
